Community Guidelines
Effective date: [EFFECTIVE DATE — TO BE FILLED IN AT PUBLICATION]
Tapes is a place to share short vlogs at your own pace with people you know. These guidelines explain what keeps that space safe, and what happens if content or behavior crosses the line. They apply to every Vlog, comment, Reaction, and profile on Tapes, and they work alongside our Terms of Service, which governs your legal agreement with us.
What's not allowed
When you report a Vlog, comment, or account in the App, you choose one of these reasons — they are also the categories we enforce against:
Spam or scams
No fake engagement, repetitive unwanted content, phishing, or attempts to defraud other users.
Nudity or sexual content
No sexually explicit content. Sexual content involving anyone under 18, in any form, is never allowed and is reported to the relevant authorities.
Hate speech or harassment
No content that attacks, threatens, or demeans people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, or similar characteristics. No targeted bullying or harassment of another person.
Violence or dangerous acts
No content that depicts, threatens, or promotes violence, self-harm, or dangerous acts (like challenges that risk serious injury).
False information
No content that is knowingly false or misleading in a way likely to cause real-world harm (for example, health misinformation or impersonating someone else).
Something else
Anything else that violates our Terms of Service or otherwise makes Tapes unsafe — including illegal content or content that infringes someone else's rights (see our copyright policy).
Reporting and blocking
You can report any Vlog, comment, or account directly in the App — your report is anonymous, and the account you report is never told who reported them. You can also block any account, which removes their content from your feeds, comments, and search, and prevents them from seeing yours.
What happens when something is reported
We review reports and take action proportionate to the violation — this can include removing content, warning an account, restricting features, or terminating an account, with more serious or repeated violations resulting in faster and stronger action. Zero-tolerance categories (like child sexual abuse material) result in immediate removal and account termination, and are reported to the relevant authorities as required by law.
Changes to these guidelines
We may update these guidelines as Tapes grows. We'll update the effective date above when we do.
